Landlord Information

The Housing Choice Voucher Program is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and provides the property owner with direct monthly payments on behalf of the participating family to cover a portion of the rent. The Housing Choice Voucher program was established to help low income families obtain safe, decent and affordable housing.

Becoming a Participating Landlord

Participation in the Housing Choice Voucher program is voluntary. However, many families in your community rely on landlords like you who are willing to participate. An advantage of participating in the program is that a landlord will have a contracted monthly rental assistance payment, which helps promote stable tenancy.

Requirements for Your Rental Unit

The unit must meet Housing and Urban Development Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and the rent must be approvable within HUD Fair Market Rents.
